More than half the money raised was from the Hills of Hope challenge, organised and cycled by Craig Barnett of E G Carter & Co Ltd, he said “Our team riders and support crew set out with a goal, that goal was to try and simply make a difference and raise awareness for two very worthy charities.
In remembering our loved ones and supporting our friends, this passion gave us the drive and determination to undertake such an epic challenge.
Our challenge was for each of the riders to cycle 250 miles in 24 hours, non-stop riding through night and day. We all exceeded our own expectations and made memories that will last a lifetime.
The funds we have raised are a true testament to the love and support of our family, friends, E G Carter and their supply chain network.
On behalf of all the Hills of Hope 250 team, thank you.”
The money that has been raised will be split two ways, half towards James Hopkins Trust and the other to Children with Cancer UK.
Donna from Children with Cancer UK explained that the money raised will support 3 areas of funding. Research, Welfare and Awareness.
Our money will go towards research projects. These projects investigate a broad range of childhood cancers – helping the charity to have a better understanding of these diseases and to find more effective, less toxic ways of treating children with cancer. Our money will also go towards our family fun day out, this year the charity will welcome children with cancer and their families to a VIP day out at the Grand Pier, Weston Super Mare, 200 guests will be treated to a delicious lunch in the Grand Pier’s Regency Suite and enjoy free access to rides all day long. Finally, our money will also go towards one of our many awareness projects such as outdoor and TV advertising. By raising awareness of childhood cancer, we can protect more children and improve the lives of young cancer patients – today and for future generations.
