The Traffic Group builds for the future

The Traffic Group has embarked on an exciting expansion project at its offices in Staverton, Cheltenham, which looks to bring together its group of companies.

The new building, designed by RRA architects and contracted to EG Carters, has been designed with sustainability and longevity in mind, providing the Group with a flexible workspace that can adapt to the future needs of the transport technology business.

When considering the project, Pete Hutchinson, Managing Director comments “The former building on this site didn't meet our requirements and wouldn't allow us to maintain the sustainability standards of our other properties. Additionally, we wanted to establish a campus-style facility that fosters long-term business growth.”

The new building, which comprises a large warehouse facility and office space, has been designed with air source heat pumps and 45kW PV solar panel arrays, creating a carbon-positive workspace that uses surplus energy generation to power older buildings on the estate. It was designed by registered B-Corp firm, RRA Architects.

The project was awarded to local construction firm, E G Carter & Co Ltd, who have worked previously with the Group having recently extended the manufacturing facility located within the site. Mark Harries, Associate Director at E G Carter & Co Ltd comments “We are delighted to be working with The Traffic Group again, which continues our longstanding relationship with the business. This project involves the creation of a first-class warehouse and office facility, with sustainability at the forefront of the design.”

Ward Williams Associates will be Project Managing and quantity surveying the construction from start to finish. Tom Michaluk, Partner at Ward Williams Associates saidWard Williams prides itself on working alongside likeminded clients and consultants, especially those aligned with our B-Corp values. The Traffic Group embody exactly how development should be undertaken and we look forward to playing an important role in this project going forwards and their on-going expansion aspirations”

The project is expected to be completed in July of next year.
