Work began on phase two of the regeneration project in January 2018 and has seen GreenSquare's appointed contractor for the project, E G Carter & Co Ltd, demolishing six bungalows and building 14 new properties – five bungalows and nine houses.
Over the past two weeks, three households have received the keys to their new homes, with the rest of the residents getting the keys to their new properties throughout the remaining weeks of July and August.
Becky moved into one of the new three-bed semi-detached properties last week (10 July) with her family. She has moved out of a property that will be demolished as part of phase three of the project.
Becky said: "I'm just so delighted to be moving in here. My family is going to have much more space and we have all just been so excited. The fact that I am getting to move in a couple of weeks earlier than expected, makes it even better."
"I have lived in this area all my life – it is my home and where my children go to school, so I am pleased to be able to stay here. I was all for the regeneration of Culverhay and have been impressed with what has happened so far. I will be sad when my old house is demolished because I have a lot of memories there, but I still just can't believe I will be living in a house as nice as this!”
The wider regeneration project includes plans to demolish 65 older properties in total, replacing them with 109 energy efficient and comfortable homes, which will be a mixture of shared ownership, affordable rent and outright sale.
