New £1.28 million facilities for school

Chalford Hill Primary School pupils will come back to two new classrooms after their summer holidays

E G Carter & Co Ltd are proud to have officially handed over Chalford Hill Primary School’s new classrooms, kitchen and reception area on time and in budget.

Two temporary classrooms have been removed and replaced with a new purpose-built building with two classrooms inside to better meet the needs of the school’s pupils. This also brings all the school’s accommodation onto one site.

The single storey extension has been designed in keeping with the existing Cotswold stone and includes a remodelled entrance and toilet facilities.

The refurbishment also includes new kitchen facilities and other internal changes to improve the school hall and storage space.

Pupils will also be hop, skip and jumping for joy with the installation of a brand-new playground after the old playground needed a modern refresh.

The grand opening was held at the Chalford Hill School, Stroud school on Friday 8th June, where pupils, and guests were treated to a buffet lunch prepared in the new kitchen facilities and given a tour of the new classrooms.

Cllr Lynden Stowe, cabinet member for skills, growth and development at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “The old buildings were no longer fit for purpose. These improvements will mean that pupils can benefit from better facilities and ensure that they reach their potential.

“This represents another fantastic investment from the county council into Gloucestershire’s schools.”

Andy Staite, Surveyor from E G Carter & Co Ltd said, “This has been a great project to get involved in, working in a live environment is always hard but with the support of the school and their pupils this was made much easier. We hope the school and students enjoy their new and improved space”
