Handover & Ground-Breaking Ceremony At £15 Million Regeneration Scheme

Over the last 12 months E G Carter & Co Ltd have worked in partnership with GreenSquare Housing Association to start the £15 million regeneration scheme at Culverhay in Cricklade.

Today (18th January 2018) E G Carter & Co Ltd are pleased to officially handover the first phase of the Culverhay regeneration project. This includes the demolition of four houses to create five new bungalows and three new houses. Local resident, Anne, said, “We love our new house, compared to where we used to live, it’s so warm and feels like home. My favourite part is the stone, it makes the house look beautiful. My husband and I are so much happier living here and we are proud to tell people that this is our house.”

As well as having the official handover of phase one, E G Carter & Co Ltd and GreenSquare Housing Association also celebrated the start of construction with a ground-breaking ceremony for the second phase of the regeneration. Works include six bungalows being demolished to make way for the construction of fourteen new houses.

Mike Goldsworthy, Site Manager for E G Carter & Co Ltd said “Finishing phase one, two months ahead of schedule, was great. We were able to move the residents into their new homes before Christmas, making everyone enjoy their Christmas a little more. We have already started demolition on phase two and are looking forward to doing our very best to ensure we have the same success as phase one. We are looking to have phase two completed by Autumn this year.”

In total, the project includes plans to demolish, sixty five, older properties in total, replacing them with, one hundred and nine, energy efficient and comfortable homes which will be a mixture of shared ownership, affordable rent and outright sale.
