I study A level business, history and sociology, and next year I aim to get an apprenticeship in business, specifically either marketing or finance. I decided to do a marketing work experience placement so that I can see how marketing works in real life in a company, after learning the theory behind it in business. I also think that doing a work experience placement can be very rewarding, especially as I can now add this onto my CV, showing future employers that I have relevant work experience for future jobs/apprenticeships in this field.
During the summer, I was privileged to have the opportunity to do a marketing-based work experience placement at E G Carter & Co Ltd. Throughout my placement, I helped out in its ‘social value’ side, where I helped to create a digital invite for its annual charity quiz night and emailed several companies to try and persuade them to donate towards a raffle prize. I also had the opportunity to visit their charity of the year, The Chamwell Center which provides space for kids of all abilities to play together, and on my second day, went to visit one of their projects at the Blackbridge site, where they are building a student hub for sports, including a gym and outdoor football pitch.
Overall, I really enjoyed my work experience at EG Carter & Co Ltd, and have gained a valuable insight into what marketing is like in real life.
