Ground broken on exciting expansion at Fladbury C of E Primary School

Work has officially begun on site at Fladbury C of E Primary School as E G Carter & Co Ltd starts construction of a new extension and internal alterations to support the school’s recent transition from a first school to a primary.

Marked by a ceremonial spade in the ground, the milestone signals the start of a carefully planned project that will provide new classrooms and additional toilet facilities, creating the space needed for pupils to continue their learning journey through to primary age within their local community.

The scheme will see the existing first school adapted and extended to accommodate additional primary age year groups, ensuring the building is fit for the future while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for staff and pupils throughout construction.

Worcestershire County Council is funding the circa £706k worth of capital building alterations required to create new teaching and support accommodation, that will better enable the school to transform to a primary school over the coming months. Building works are expected to be completed by August 2026.

The work is being carried out as part of Worcestershire County Council’s Pershore Area Review, which as of September 2025 has seen schools in the area move from a three-tier system (first, middle and high schools) to a two-tier system (primary and secondary schools) of education.

Delivering works within a live school environment always requires thoughtful planning, and this project presents additional logistical challenges, with a narrow access road leading to the rear of the school where the construction zone is located. Detailed coordination has been undertaken to manage deliveries, material storage and site operations safely and efficiently as groundworks begin and foundations are prepared.
