E G Carter & Co Ltd win two BSG Health & Safety Awards

Congratulations to, Site Manager, Graham Lammas and, Divisional Manager Chris Nicks for winning two BSG Health & Safety Awards.

Graham Lammas won the BSG Site Manager of Year Award Central & South. Graham is currently working on a large project at Oxford Brookes University which requires the refurbishment of two floors within the existing Sinclair Building and adjacent annexe. This also includes the replacement of external windows and over cladding to existing facades.

This project is particularly challenging due to the University still being live and used. This requires careful planning and attention to detail to ensure the safety of the people on and around the site. Thanks to Graham’s 30 years of experience within the construction industry, he is able to use his expertise to ensure the project is executed safely.

Chris Nicks won the BSG Project Award for best Health & Safety in Planning & Design after working on the Dowty Propellers factory project. In February 2015 a major fire destroyed the Dowty Propeller factory in Staverton near Gloucester. E G Carter & Co Ltd’s Insurance Repair Division were on site the following morning making it safe. This fire was reported as the largest insured loss fire in Europe and one of the major demolition sites in the UK, with chemical and military sensitivity for the UK and American Airforce.

Chris and the team secured the area allowing demolition to commence and for work to continue in the safest possible way. This particular job relied on the experience of the insured loss division and, thanks to their expertise within health and safety, the job was delivered to the highest expectations.
