E G Carter & Co Ltd support Mental Health Awareness day at Annual Health & Safety Conference

Each year E G Carter & Co Ltd hold an annual Health and Safety Conference all production based employees attend and are given a range of short presentations to reinforce the importance of Health and Safety within the Construction Industry.

This years Health & Safety Conference is in line with World Mental Health Day. To support and help end the stigma, E G Carter & Co Ltd organised a guest speaker from the Building Safety Group to speak about importance of Mental Health within the construction industry.

One in six workers in the UK is experiencing depression, anxiety or stress. In a construction population of 2.1M representing 6% of the UK workforce that suggests 350,000 people in construction at any one time. A recent ONS (Office for National Statistics) study found that, in England, the risk of suicide among low-skilled male labourers, particularly those working in construction roles, was 3 times higher than the male national average (March, 2017).
