E G Carter & Co Ltd helps Magna Housing apprentice to complete his apprenticeship

Over the last twelve weeks E G Carter & Co Ltd has helped Magna Housing by giving valuable work experience to one of their apprentices.

Louis Manchip, 17, a Carpentry Apprentice within the maintenance team at Magna Housing has been learning the ‘Carpentry ropes’ at Nokoto Drive, Bridgwater with help from E G Carter & Co Ltd.

Louis usually spends a lot of his time on multiple housing sites across the Country working mainly on fitting new kitchens. In order for him to complete his college course he needed a more rounded experience within his chosen specialism, Magna called upon their partners E G Carter & Co Ltd who offered to give Louis work experience on a large construction site.

The past twelve weeks have seen Louis fitting skirting boards, door frames, enhancing window protection as well as shadowing the more experienced tradesmen who contain a wealth of knowledge. Louis explained “This has been an invaluable experience; it has really helped me develop the skills I need to complete my apprenticeship. I’m looking forward to putting my new skills to the test.”

Roy Smith, Site Manager at E G Carter & Co Ltd said “Louis has a lot of potential to eventually be a great carpenter; he is enthusiastic, willing to learn and passionate about the construction industry. Magna has gained a great apprentice.”

Work at Nokoto Drive consists of the construction of 18 new homes for affordable rent along with associated works and will be completed at the end of September 2019.
