E G Carter & Co Ltd help clean up local communities on #WorldCleanUpDay2019

To support World Cleanup Day on the 21st September 2019, E G Carter & Co Ltd used their operatives and staff to clean up local communities by doing a site wide litter pick.

World Cleanup Day is one of the biggest global movements of our time, uniting 157 countries across the world for a cleaner planet. World Cleanup Day started as a simple idea, a group of people, concerned about the amount of rubbish and waste in their community who decided to do something.

11 years later, the simple idea has grown into a global movement with millions of volunteers and charismatic leaders. The simple act of cleaning has become a force that binds together people and groups that would otherwise never dream of working towards the same goal.

Throughout the week E G Carter & Co Ltd have been playing their part and cleaning up a range of communities including Robinswood Park, Gloucester where new refurbishment works are taking place.

David Carter a Director of E G Carter & Co Ltd said, “It is vital to help support our local communities and it’s a small gesture to litter pick, but we are certainly trying to do our bit to help clean up the world.”

This year World Cleanup Day falls on the International Day of Peace, Executive Director of Let’s Do It World (LDIW), Anneli Ohvril said “It is no accident that World Cleanup Day and International Day of Peace fall on the same day this year.

We hope to increase the understanding of the link between peace and a cleaner world – if we can reduce the amount of raw materials we need and move closer to a circular economy, then we will reduce wars that very often stem from conflicts over resources.”
