Matthew Dyke, Quantity Surveyor at E G Carter & Co Ltd, expressed his satisfaction with the project, stating, "The refurbishment of The Coombs has been a rewarding experience for our team. We've worked closely with Gloucestershire County Council to ensure that the design and build process has delivered spaces that are not only functional but also uplifting for residents and staff. The positive feedback we've received so far is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved."
To celebrate the completion and official opening of the newly refurbished spaces, The Coombs hosted a special handover event. This event was a momentous occasion, marking the conclusion of months of collaboration, planning, and careful craftsmanship. The event was attended by representatives from Gloucestershire County Council, care home staff, residents, and their families.
As part of the celebration, E G Carter & Co Ltd proudly sponsored a live performance by a local singer. The decision to include live music in the event was made with the residents' well-being in mind, particularly considering the positive effects music can have on individuals living with dementia. Research has shown that music can evoke memories, improve mood, and reduce agitation among dementia patients, making it a powerful tool in enhancing their quality of life.
The event was a resounding success, with the music creating a joyful and comforting atmosphere that resonated deeply with both residents and attendees. E G Carter & Co Ltd is honoured to have played a part in this uplifting experience and remains committed to supporting the local community through meaningful initiatives.
