E G Carter & Co Ltd has successfully completed the refurbishment of two terraced properties in Swindon town centre for long‑standing client The Nelson Trust, delivering a high‑quality, welcoming space to support the charity’s important work within the community.
Working in a busy town centre location presented a number of challenges, including restricted access, neighbouring occupied properties and a public footpath to the front of the site. These constraints required careful planning and close day‑to‑day management, with particular consideration given to parking, noise and minimising disruption to neighbours and nearby businesses. Through proactive engagement and strong site leadership, the works were delivered smoothly and without issue.
The refurbishment included significant internal alterations and a complete mechanical and electrical fit‑out, providing modern office accommodation alongside specialist spaces such as group rooms, conference facilities and a crèche area. All elements of the design were developed in close collaboration with The Nelson Trust to ensure the building not only looked right but functioned effectively for those using it on a daily basis.
