Solon Housing Association are a Bristol-based charitable Housing Association with 1200 homes already occupied. Richard James, Development Director at Solon Housing Association said: "Solon is very proud of the 24 homes developed at Kelston Close which provided much needed affordable housing. It has been a pleasure working with E G Carter & Co Ltd throughout the project. I would also like to thank South Gloucestershire Council and the Homes and Communities Agency for their support"
The land was originally a brownfield site with an unoccupied care home taking precedence. E G Carter & Co Ltd commenced the enabling phase undertaking demolition of the existing care home shortly after securing planning permission. The homes were designed with local surroundings in mind, Kate Da-Costa-Greaves, Senior Associate from Quattro Design Ltd explained: "The principal objective of this scheme was to create a pleasant, attractive and sustainable development for the local area and its residents that responded to the local housing need. The layout purposely provides an informal residential setting combining the parking and landscaping areas to the front of the dwellings creating a green street at the heart of the development. We have utilised materials seen in the local area to create a contemporary looking scheme, using clean lines across the elevations to provide an uncluttered appearance throughout the development."
