Angela Gascoigne Chief Executive at Shal said “The need for homes which are affordable to rent for lower incomes households in Woolavington is without question. It has taken a true partnership with E G Carter and the parish council to get this project underway. These homes will not only be available at a social rent but will also be affordable to run with good levels of insulation, Air Source Heat Pumps and PV Panels. I will never forget attending the Planning Committee and hearing one of the Committee members start the discussion about the homes by saying that he wished he could have them in his village!
Local residents have told us that they welcome the new homes, as they know these are needed. We also know they are feeling the disturbance to get these homes built, and we continue to work with them to minimise this.
As a small housing association, we work hard to understand the communities we serve. We are ready to play our part in addressing the UK's housing crisis and believe that decent homes must be available for everyone. Right now that is not the case, but we are changing this, with the residents in Woolavington, for this community.”
This project is part of a broader effort to provide affordable, sustainable housing solutions across the region, supporting local families and individuals in need of quality accommodation.
