E G Carter Begins Work on 45-Home Affordable Development in Keynsham

Demolition has officially begun at Tintagel Close in Keynsham, marking a major milestone in the transformation of the former 1970s estate and the start of delivery on a new neighbourhood of 45 high-quality, affordable homes.

As principal contractor, we are leading on the construction works, working closely with Curo and project partners to ensure the site’s transformation is delivered safely, sustainably and with the local community at its heart.

Matthew Vye, Residential Director at E G Carter, said: “This is a significant moment for Keynsham and for everyone involved in the project. We’re proud to be delivering the works on behalf of Curo, helping to replace a building that had reached the end of its lifespan with a development that will provide high-quality, affordable homes for generations to come.”

Sarah Maylor, Curo’s Director of Development, said, “We’re a not-for-profit, which means we’re led by our values. That’s why we’re investing here - we care about this community and want it to be a great place to live.”

The new 100% affordable development has been designed to better connect the site with adjacent green spaces, supported by enhanced landscaping and community facilities, including a new play area. The scheme will deliver a mix of homes ranging from one-bed flats to four-bed family houses, each with dedicated parking and electric vehicle charging provision.

Sustainability sits at the core of the development. All 45 homes will feature air source heat pumps, solar energy generation and heat recovery systems, achieving an EPC ‘A’ rating — the highest possible standard for energy efficiency.

With demolition now underway, this marks the first step in transforming Tintagel Close into a well-connected, sustainable neighbourhood. Working in partnership with Curo, we are proud to be delivering a development that responds to local need and will create lasting benefits for the Keynsham community for years to come.
