Mark Harries, Associate Director said “Carrying out construction works in such a prominent location of the school hasn’t been without its challenges, but it’s a testament to all involved that the works have been carried out safely, incident free and on programme. Just over 30 different trades comprising of approximately 600 operatives have been involved in this project all playing a vital part in its success. Being a Gloucestershire based contractor, it’s great to have worked with so many local companies and people on this outstanding building. The school have been very accommodating throughout the works, they’ve also been very excited which is evident by the amount of staff visits that have been requested. We can honestly say it has been an absolute pleasure working with the school and their team, and we’re looking forward to starting on the refurbishment phase in the new year.
We hope this great building is enjoyed by teachers and pupils for many years to come.”
The £3M build, which is funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency, supplemented by the school’s own fundraising appeal, is due to be completed in Spring 2019 with the sixth form facility opening to students in the new year.
Russel Ellicott, Headteacher at Pate’s said “Throughout the construction E G Carter & Co Ltd couldn't have been more helpful, flexible and professional and have proved expert in dealing with the requirements of a working school especially when our students were having 8 weeks of exams. This amazing new space will enable our sixth formers to have a bespoke study space entirely appropriate for their needs and our senior students to have access to a fabulous new library facility. We are extremely excited about moving into this building and very much looking forward to making it our own.”
